My Nephew

I have not been on my blog lately, because we had my family in from out of town, so Carrie's world has been tossed out of place this week. I am hoping to get back to writing again and posting some new things that I have made. I am working on some great accordian albums for a fair coming up, so I hope to post those soon.

Well, the family that came into town was my Brother and his wife and their little 6 month old boy. My husband and I were the last Aunt and Uncle to finally get to see the preciouse little nephew. I had been so excited that I made some layout pages with the Level 1 "Animal Cookies" pages from CTMH (I will post them later after the photos are developed). He was so adorable, and he loved the camera. Everytime we pulled out the camera he was smiling and ready to go! I wanted to share a couple of photos of this little guy with you.

I just love this card that I made. It is just a basic card. I saw the design of it in an old Idea Book. I am going to add some brads to them to dazzle it up. I am so into brads these days! I just love them. They give cards and layouts class and style! At least I think they do. Let me know what you think of my card!

Making your own Chipboard Embellishments

I was at work, and found some cardboard that someone was throughing out. So I took it! I thought, what can I do with these cardboard sheets? Then I thought of it. They will make great Chipboard embellishments. I took out some "Bella" paper and I cut out a circle in the paper and in the cardboard sheet

Then I decorated the paper

After decorated the paper, I glued the paper to the cardbord

And Voila'! You have a new chipboard embellishment for you scrapbook layout or card!

On Jeanette's blog, she made this really cool card. The envelope was made with a CD sleeve. Hers are so pretty and you should go and look at them at her blog at http://www.jeanettelynton.com/. I liked them so much that I had to make one myself. I made my out of the Boom-Di-Ada paper. I cut out one of the flowers on the B&T paper and then used the 3-D foam tape to attach it to the card. I am not sure what I am going to use the card for, but it was so much fun making it.

New Scrap Room

I am in the process of re-organizing my scrap room. Right now it is a total mess. I cannot find anything. I want to scrapbook but do not know what to use or where to begin since I cannot find anything. I wanted to post my before pictures. Believe me, it is a mess! I hope to get it done soon, so I can get back to posting some artwork on here. I miss making fun creative projects. I promise to put more on here.

This is the desk and my husband is fixing for me. It was given to us by a neighbor that was moving and did not want it anymore, so they asked if we wanted it. I jumped on it quick the couch is an old couch we had that we put in the room. I am going to use it as sitting area for people that come by and hang out in the room

Sticker to embellishment

Make any sticker into a 3 D embellishment by turning it over, sprinkling on some baby powder (to take away the sticky back), and then adding a pop dot...of course you could then layer it onto a punched square or circle of card stock and then...well, just let your imagination go. *

Easy Homemade Templates for Stitching

Stitching is easy as ever and a cost effective decoration ,as well as, a handmade touch. You can make your own stitching templates by just looking at the patterned paper you already have.

Recently I took a piece of paper with an antique flower pattern. I picked out the pieces I wanted to use. I then took my paper piercer and pierced the outline and detail lines within the picture. It wasn't difficult and there was no need for perfect measuring. I simply placed my holes within a reasonable distance from each other in a way that my holes would not tear as I stitched. I then began using a straight stitch around the flower from the inside out. When I got to the end I then stitched around the pattern backwards with a straight stitch to fill in the gaps. This technique will work with any object you wish to stitch. I then cut out my piece and glued it where I wanted it. You can even save the outside outline and do a baseball stitch around it to created a lovely stitched border. Add more detail by using different colors for different areas. When starting your stitch to keep it flat use a glue stick to lay your floss down instead of a knot.

You don't even need a patterned paper. Go freehand and create a pattern out of anything. Once you have pierced the paper, as you see fit, then pick your stitch.

If you use buttons and other embellishments that are similar, instead of gluing them on, get out your piercer and stitch them on. It saves on glue and you get a much more detailed look.

Once you get handy at stitching you can apply it just about anywhere. There are no rules to stitching and it is great for anything from details to the main art piece.

Also to save money you can use cross stitch floss and pick the amount of strands you wish to use. Instead of buying floss out of the scrap book aisles look in the sewing and cross stitch aisles. Needles will be cheaper there too. *

Down in the Dumps

Do you ever get that feeling that you just feel like you are down in the dumps? You just feel blah? I feel that way today. I am just felling blah today. It is just one of those days. I would love to be home just relaxing in my PJs, reading a good book laying in the bed.

I hope to get some scrapbooking done. I got all of my pictures labeled and on a disc. Now I need to go and print them out so I can scrapbook. The first thing I need to do first is rearrange my scrapbooking room. I am trying to find a way to make the room more organized. It is sure taking a long time though. I will have to post a picture later what the room looks like now and when I am done. A before and after photo. Well, I have to get busy with life. No laying around for me! Have a great day!*

My Goodwill Find

I am in the process of redoing my scrapbook/craft room. I have a room in my house that I keep all of my scrapbooking stuff as well as my sewing stuff. It is like a mess in that room right now. Stuff is everywhere. I cannot find what I need when I need it. Well, I decided last week that I was going to make my room into a organized room. I would love to do it like the pictures of scrapbook rooms you see on the internet, but the money is not there. But I am going to try my best.

Well, I was at Goodwill the other day with my mom, when I came across these wonderful storage boxes. They were perfect for the room! I will have to clean them up and paint them, but they will be great for organizing and storing things. It was an awesome find and for 30 dollars I got the big one and 3 small boxes. I could not have found them any better.

This is the big box. It will have to be painted on the front.

I got 3 of these. They are in excellent condition, just need to be cleaned up.

Make your own buttons that match your page

Using 'Close to my Heart' see through, self-adhesive "window charms" or similar product you can make a button to match your card or page. Here's how:

1. Peel the "window charm" embellishment off it's sheet and stick to the paper.
2. Cut around the edges.
3. Use a crop-a-dile to punch holes.
4. Glue or sew to your project and that's it!

Homemade EMERGENCY Pop Ups

When I have not been able to locate my pop dots, I have found that using a piece of craft foam works great. Add a little, good quality craft clue, stick your object on it and paste to your project and allow to dry. Works every bit as good as the packaged ones that are used for making things "pop"!

Summer Vacations

As I was going through my other photos, I saw my photos from my Birthday Surprise that my husband did for me. My birthday was back on May 24th and he surprised me with tickets to a Josh Turner concert. I have been wanting to go so bad (because he is my favorite singer). Well, he planned the whole day. First we went to Anna Ruby Falls.

It was so beautiful, but a good 0.5 mile hike up.

After the hike, Ryan and I went to the Concert. I could not wait! The concert was so fabulous. Josh Turner was so AWESOME! Ryan asked me if he could sing any song what songs would i want him to sing, and I had three songs. The number one was "Would You Go With Me", then "Me and God", and then "Long Black Train". He sang all three songs and my number one song was the encore. So, to me, he saved the best song for last. I cannot wait till the next concert!

I was going through my old photos to plain on working on my family album (which is my husband and me right now) and came across some photos of when we went for a weekend trip to Gatlinburg, TN. There were some photos at Dollywood, the beautiful moutains and this photo:

Two places at once! I was in North Carolina and in Tennessee at the same time. It was so much fun.

Make Your Printed Titles Look Hand-Done

Type your title in a cute, simple font. Print it in color or black. Then, embellish it with your markers or pencils. You can outline them, add lines around them, add dots, spirals, squiggles, etc. It creates the look of hand-done creative lettering with less stress and time.

I cannot wait to go and make these. This will be so much fun. I will post what I came up with later.

Wishing I was at home Scrapbooking

Today as I sat here at work, I was wishing I could be home scrapbooking. It is so much fun to put my memories into a book full of color, and personality. I hope each of you have your own book of memories. If you do not or do not know how to, just ask me about on of my workshops. We make wonderfule layouts for you to cherish all you memories on.

June is here. May went by so fast. I hope everyone is doing good. I have been so busy.

May's Girls Scrapbooking Night went very well. We had a lot of fun scrapbooking and sharing memories. I hope that you all can make it for the next one on June 26th. I will have the layouts we are making on here in about a week. We will be having a lot of fun, and if you can make it, bring your favorite Chocolate! It will be a night full of fun.

May seems to have come and gone so fast. I do not know where the time has flown. The summer is almost here, and it seems like just yesterday we were entering into the new year. I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather like I am. This is great weather for picnics, ball games, vacations, anything you make lasting memories with. Just do not forget your camera!
